Ladybug Films is a company built on a foundation of respect. It is a company dedicated to redressing the marginalization of women in the South African film industry by producing a diverse range of voices through our films. Our aim is to help women achieve their highest potential within the film industry by nurturing, developing and showcasing their talents. Furthermore, it is a company committed to striving for a quality South African film industry, one that is representative of the nation, commercially viable and encourages development.
Judy Naidoo is the very heart of the fire that heats up Ladybug Films – a South African film production house established by Judy in September 2002, under the name Black Heat Productions. Judy Naidoo is a South African independent filmmaker who holds a Masters Degree in Producing from the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in the United Kingdom and a BA (Dramatic Arts) Honours Degree from Wits University (majoring in Directing and Television). She is a Ford Foundation International Fellow and a recipient of the Trevor Jones Scholarship (2010). Over the last 10 years the company has produced several award winning documentaries, short-films and features.
